The Outer Parkway (CSJ: 0921-06-283) is an approximately 21.5-mile proposed four-lane divided highway extending from I-69E (U.S. 77) near the North Cameron County Line to FM 1847. The project will provide a new east-west travel route through northeastern Cameron County and will connect with General Brant Road and I-69E (U.S. 77).
Project Highlight
The Outer Parkway is an important component of regional transportation planning. The project is intended to improve east-west connectivity and provide additional transportation capacity in northern Cameron County. Together with other planned regional improvements, the Outer Parkway will also support an additional hurricane evacuation route and enhance safe passage throughout the region to provide new location non-toll freeway.
Project Status
The environmental and preliminary engineering phases are currently ongoing. Right-of-way and utility coordination, design, and funding remain pending.

The identified needs include limited east-west mobility due to insufficient transportation infrastructure, hindered emergency response, and impeded efficient hurricane evacuation. |
| Description | CCRMA is proposing a new-location, four-lane divided highway from I-69E/US 77 to FM 106/General Brant Road in Cameron County. The approximately 22-mile project would be constructed in two phases. Phase I (interim design) would primarily consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, one in each direction, with two 10-foot shoulders. Phase II (ultimate design) would consist of two main travel lanes and two frontage road lanes, where justified, in each direction. ROW would generally be approximately 300 feet wide, expanding to 500 feet at intersections with existing roadways during Phase II.
The project would intersect FM 507, the future extension of FM 509, FM 2925, FM 803, and FM 1847, in addition to I-69E/US 77 and FM 106. Subject to final design, the project would require additional ROW and could potentially displace residential and non-residential structures. Construction would involve wetlands and an action in a floodplain. |
