Veterans International Bridge Commercial FAST Lane Expansion

This PROJECT WILL INCREASE THE CAPACITY FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES ENTERING THE UNITED STATES AT VETERANS INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE AT LOS TOMATES.

The Veterans International Bridge is a partnership between Cameron County and the City of Brownsville. Interstate 69E begins at the Veterans International Bridge which handles most of the international commercial traffic in Cameron County, including commercial traffic utilizing an overweight corridor between the bridge and the Port of Brownsville. This project will allow the Veterans International Bridge to be able to attract additional commercial traffic.

The project is fully designed, environmental clearance is complete and no additional right-of-way or utility relocations are required. U.S. Customs and Border Protection will make a $7 million investment in technology once the project is complete and operational. Cameron County will fund the construction cost.
