The Port Connector Road will be vital for the success of the Port of Brownsville as they try and lure business from the Space industry and the LNG plants.
The Port Connector Road begins at SH 4 and ends in the vicinity of Ostos Road, approximately two miles long. This is an important segment that is needed for the SH 32 Project. This is a huge safety project since most of the commercial traffic will be relocated from International Boulevard to the new SH 32 and Port Connector Road. The right of way is in place and no utility relocations will be required. The project is fully funded.
Currently a Categorical Exclusion environmental document is being prepared by the CCRMA for the Port of Brownsville. Environmental clearance is expected in the Fall of 2018. Currently a Consultant is developing the engineering plans and they will be 100% complete and TxDOT approved by October 2018.
The construction cost for the Port Connector Road is $16 Million.
