SH 550 Improvements

Temporary Closures on SH 550.
May 18, 2017 – Rancho Viejo, TX – The Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority (CCRMA) will be improving safety and roadway conditions for its travelers from Saturday, May 20, 2017, to Monday, May 22, 2017. The SH 550 Improvements consist of concrete barrier installation and roadway smoothing along bridge approaches. Clore Construction will be working on the improvements.

The barrier installation will help prevent drivers from veering into oncoming traffic near the State Highway 48 and SH 550 intersection. Every year many fatal traffic accidents are caused by the lack of barriers on high speed corridors. These improvements will help ensure safer travel for all SH 550 travelers. Roadway smoothing will occur on the bridge overpass on the UPRR rail line near the Port Spur as well as on the Direct Connector, the north bound exit on I-69E.

Closures will be at the North Bound Direct Connector from Old Alice Road to U.S. 77, the North Bound Port Spur from SH 48 to Hugh Emerson Road, and the South Bound Port Spur from Hugh Emerson Road to SH 48. Improvements will take place from 6:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 through 6:00 P.M. on Monday, May 22, 2017.

The CCRMA thanks all travelers of the SH 550 for their usage and apologizes for the temporary inconvenience these closures will cause.
