August 12, 2022 – This morning the Groundbreaking Ceremony was held for the Veterans International Bridge at Los Tomates DAP Improvements Project. The Veterans International Bridge at Los Tomates has facilitated the movement of passenger vehicles between Brownsville and Matamoros for over 20 years. The project will increase the capacity for passenger vehicles entering the United States at the Veterans International Bridge by adding four additional Customs and Border Protection (CBP) primary inspection lanes.
With the expansion, there will be an increase in the safety of the passengers and a much better flow of passenger vehicle traffic. The improvement will also alleviate traffic congestion on the bridge passenger lanes. These additional lanes will complete a gap included in the original General Services Administration (GSA) master plan for the Los Tomates Border Station. The Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority is happy to be part of a project that will impact our region in a positive way.
