US 77 Interstate Upgrades Groundbreaking Ceremony
Today the Texas Department of Transportation hosted a groundbreaking event in Kenedy County to kick-off construction on the U.S. 77 interstate.
The renovations will stretch from 1.46 miles north of Norias Road to 1.34 miles north of the Willacy and Kenedy County line as part of the continued progress of I-69.
TxDOT is developing the I-69 System in Texas through a series of small, local-level projects that will extend through various highways. Once the highway sections have been upgraded to interstate standards the I-69 System will extend through Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Indiana, and Michigan, providing a new continuous interstate corridor connecting Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
Representatives from Senator Cornyn’s Office, Senator Morgan LaMantia, Kenedy County Leadership, Cameron County Leadership, and members of the I-69 Alliance were in attendance with the Texas Department of Transportation District Engineer.
